Understanding visitors behaviour on your site helps you improve overall performance. It is more important when you run a business and depend more on website traffics for your clients. Having a regular look on the visitor behaviour will give you a room to take necessary steps at the right time. There is no other way better than adding Google Analytics to your website to serve this purpose.

Google analytics lets you track your website visitors with different statistics of the visitors’ Geo locations, demographics, devices and lots more.

Now the question is how to add Google Analytics to your site. In this article, we will show this for WordPress. Many website owners may face troubles to add google analytics to their WordPress sites. This is why we come up with the idea to show them the way to do this. Any website owner with this guideline will no longer have trouble adding Google Analytics to their site.

So stay calm and follow the instructions below

First of all, you need a Google account (Gmail) to sign up with Google Analytics. If you don’t have one, then create a Gmail account and sign up with Google Analytics.

After clicking on the Sign up button on your right, you will be redirected to a page like below. This is where you will have to give your website information including account name, website name and website URL. Make sure you give all these information correctly.

Once you have given all the required information properly, you need to go all the way down to the Get Tracking ID button. Click on the button and accept the terms and condition on the next pop-up window.

Then you will get Google Analytics tracking code on the next page.

Now you need to install the Insert Headers and Footers plugin on your site. You can also add Google Analytics tracking code manually to your theme file. But here we've described the plugin method for ease of use. After installing and activating the plugin, go to Settings > Insert Headers and Footers and paste the website tracking code in the Header box.

Click the Save button below after you have pasted the code.

With this step, your website has been added to Google Analytics. Now you can go to your Google Analytics account and see the statistics with different charts.

I hope you’ve understood all the steps above and followed them accordingly. Tracking the visitors is the best way to know which page of your site is receiving the highest amount of traffic, the sources the visitors are coming from, the visitor locations, volume of periodic traffic, visitor devices and interestingly, the number of current visitors in details. Google Analytics has a lot more features and metrics. Utilize them to achieve greater success.
